Until February the 11th, the exhibition Cascading Memorials: Urbanization and Climate Change in San Diego County can be seen at the Athenaeum Music and Arts Library, La Jolla, California.It deals with the enormous growth of San Diego County in the last one hundred years and the effect on species that are threatened and endangered due to the expansion of the city. “Cascading Memorials” aims to bring to public awareness which losses are connected with urbanization and climate change.
This exhibition focuses on the rapid change and disappearance of natural habitats, especially the chaparral and forested areas of the county. Photomontages together with scientific and historical context build the Memorials.
Visitors are engaged to communicate and share their ideas in a so-called “place to envision a future where all being may flourish”.

Janna is BA-student in cultural sciences at the Leuphana University Lueneburg, and doing a 5-months internship at Cultura21 in the framework of the Leuphana PLUS program.
