Partners

Leuphana Universiteit Luneburg (Institute for Culture Science, IKKK): The IKKK is a research institute specialized on cultures of sustainability and interculturality. More than 40 students will participate to the Karamoja campaign.

Haute Ecole d’Art et de Design de Genève, Switzerland: students from the study programme CCC of contemporary art will participate to the campaign.

 

Events

Conference: students from the IKKK organized in Lüneburg a two days international conference on "Awareness Raising about Sustainability in Africa: Issues of Pastoralism", on October 24-25 2008; see the 'conference' section of the website.

Exhibition/awareness-raising event: in parallel to the conference, the university students will organize an exhibition including photographs and installations presenting aspects of pastoralism and life in Karamoja.

Artistic interventions: Students from the study programme CCC in Geneva performed, in collaboration with students from Lüneburg, artistic interventions: 1. in Lüneburg during the conference; 2. in Brussels during the adovcacy visit on January 23rd 2009; more details on the homepage (report on the advocacy visit to Brussels)

Preparation of an advocacy paper: students from the IKKK collaborated with students from Groningen (Netherlands), Bordeaux (France), and Prague (Czech Republic) to prepare an advocacy paper on Karamoja through a collective web platform. See the advocacy paper on the homepage.

Cultural exchange: students from the Johanneum in Lüneburg engaged into a cultural exchange with students from an ABEK school in Karamoja; the outcome of this exchange was used to prepare an awareness-raising event on March 4th 2009.
