The Strategy and Structure of Cultura21

The above listed goals are extensive, and attainable only with the available recourses. Consequently, they have to be seen as an orientation-frame for more specific steps.

The platform is divided into 4 different fora: networking, institution, agency and media.

The Network Cultura21

The Network Cultura21 (www.cultura21.de) is embedded into the framework of social-ecological development. Not only culture, society and economy will be interconnected, but also the unemployed, immigrants, and other members of society who have difficulties in getting integrated into society. The network supports the development of new synergies, the exchange of knowledge and experiences, and the realisation of projects.

The Institute Cultura21

The Institute Cultura21 (www.cultura21.org) provides a think tank and gives the network a space for projects, discussions and intercultural transfer. It is a non-profit organisation which offers advice and ideas to other institutions and organisations. Here the visions, strategies, and ideas of Cultura21 will be discussed, rethought and further developed. The institute deals with such questions as:

What is preventing the transfer of sustainable ideals in our society? Why has environmental awareness decreased, despite the fact that the societal and ecological problems have intensified?

The Service-Agency Cultura21 (in progress)

The Service-Agency Cultura21 is the economic oriented space of the platform. It wants to bundle those competences that are necessary in the question of the resources and in the realisation of projects. The Service-Agency is responsible for the management and the administration of the different elements of the platform Cultura21 and constitutes a laboratory for a sustainable, social and ecological oriented cultural economy (i.e. economy as applied cultural sciences). With its cultural services (i.e. public relations, event management, fundraising, networking) the service-agency supports members of the network as well as actors and projects that promote change processes of social and cultural systems, of modes of thinking and of life-styles.

Web magazine Cultura21 (in progress to a CMS-System)

The Media of Cultura21 provides internal and external communication and information exchanges and management. To the editorship of the virtual magazine Cultura21 (www.cultura21.info) belong journalists, artists, authors and scientists. It is also a laboratory for independent and critical information access and a forum for questions of social and cultural development. The journal of Cultura21 is more scientifically oriented and publishes longer articles of researchers and experts.
